Horse and Rider

Ever since I was a little girl, horses have always had a special place in my heart. I’ve been riding my entire life and I know how easily they become our not only competitive partners but our most treasured friends. The bond between a horse & rider is special. I feel it, I see it, and I can't wait to capture it in photographs for you to treasure forever.

I know what it's like to feel awkward in front of the camera, so my goal is to help create an environment where you can feel comfortable and relaxed! I want to capture how you interact with your horse not just some posed, cheesy, 'smile for the camera' moments.

How to prepare for the rider

Outfit changes may be available depending on sessions, so make sure to bring different options. It is best to bring a good selection of clothing so I can help choose colours and styles that will work best with your horse and background! Always dress appropriately for the weather, but you can wear anything from casual, dress, or horse show attire. Having hair and make up done is definitely suggested, but I encourage you to prepare yourself in a way that makes you the most comfortable! We are working with big animals so riding boots/ covered shoes are ideal for safety!

How to prepare for the horse

To make the most of your session a well groomed or washed horse is essential! I'd suggest you do whatever show preparation that you might do for a competition, for example: clipped, clean, hooves painted, make up, etc. A leather halter with the same coloured lead rope always looks good, otherwise a clean bridle is preferred.

If your horse is known to be fresh, I also suggest a ride or a lunge before to make sure the session is super relaxed for both horse and rider! I also always recommend having a second person there to help if at all possible, especially with outfit changes and getting ears forward!

What location and time

The background is very important for these type of sessions. Greenery and non busy areas (no cars/buildings in the background) is preferred but I am pretty flexible in making different locations work. Horses are unpredictable animals, so home or locations they are familiar with are the best for a relaxed session for horse and rider. However, if there are other locations you are interested in with better scenery that you are comfortable to transport to, definitely let me know and we can work that into the schedule!

Time wise, the best lighting is early morning at sunrise or late afternoons around sunset. Shooting in mid afternoon can produce a harsh lighting that I would never recommend, so I always book my sessions at the beginning or the end of the day. Keep in mind that these hour to two hour long sessions will take up ALL the good lighting, so I’m only able to do one every morning or evening.

Can I post on social media

Digital Images and High Resolution Images

Digitals and High resolution images are included in every session package that I offer! I love being able to give clients the ability to share their images with friends and family online. The digitals you receive are considered ‘digital proofs’ only and will be sent with my logo on them for social media use only. These images are not permitted to be printed. High Resolution images are your favourite images that you chose out of the digital images. These images come without my logo; you can print them any size you like, as many times as you like.

These images are yours for life so make sure you save them somewhere safe!

Can I order prints of my images

Yes you can order prints through me! Every session package come with High Resolution images for you to print out yourself, however if you would like me to order for you just let me know. I will recommend places I trust for you to print, to ensure great service and quality prints!

Getting your Photos

21-28 days after your photoshoot you will be sent your photographs. Clients will be emailed their Digital images to download and choose their favourite images which will then be emailed out as High Resolution files.

Payment

Payment is required in full prior to your photoshoot. Please use your surname as reference on the banking details.
